My photographic work is a means by which to catalog objects. I utilize digital systems of interpretation, specifically flatbed scanners, to translate real objects into a digital format. The end result is a reduction of depth of field, a flat illustrative version of a three-dimensional element. This action is in itself a translation of information. I began this work by printing transparencies to use as negatives in 1999. In 2003 I became obsessed with scanning everyday objects and continued the process until it's culmination in the 2009 exhibition "Tango Mike India" which included over 400 of these images displayed as a library including CD records of the digital images.
